Licensing Overview
What is Microsoft Volume Licensing (MLV) Program
- MVL is a set of licensing programs that provide customers with options for acquiring software.
- MVL is the right choice for customers needing multiple copies of Microsoft software.
- Uses Volume Licensing Product Keys for deploying.
- MLV has various options: Open License, Open Value, Select License, Enterprise Agreements, as well as other licensing program.
MVL is not only a cost-effective and predictable cost option but it also offer value added benefits such as the following:
- Software re-imaging rights, downgrade rights, new hardware* license transfer rights and additional productivity use rights.
- Desktop Office licenses that enable you to use a second copy of Office for a mobile computer.
- Software Assurance to keep you up to date on the latest software versions.
MVL is productive for you because it allows:
- Re-imaging and prior version rights to facilitate internal deployment of Volume Licensing software and standardization.
- Cross-language use rights to use any language versions of software licensed as long as language versions in use are priced the same or less than the original version.
- Platform-independent licenses allow for the same or lower than the original version product to be used on an Intel system-based or Macintosh computer platform.
- Office Standard Edition, Office Professional Edition, and Microsoft Project are “platform independent” licenses.
- Software transferability—customers may reassign licenses and SA within the organization from one PC to another.*
MVL allows you to size rightly your requirements:
- Volume License offerings are tailored for customer size and purchasing preferences.
- The offerings scale to meet the customer’s growing needs.
*OEM Windows licenses may not be transferred to new hardware. Even if upgraded through a Volume Licensing agreement.
